Overview of Pineham
Farm where Jane and Roger lived for 25 years
before moving to Spain in January 2006 with their 2 daughters.
The main farmhouse has recently undergone a barn conversion in 2000,
which included such features as a fibre optical star constellation in
the main hall, a well with a glass top to walk over in the kitchen and
a curved brick tunnel.
Dairy cows grazing
at Pineham Farm. These young cattle would remain at Pineham until their
first calf at two and a half years of age when they would then be
introduced to the main milking herd at Wings Farm.
The Milking Parlour.
The Freisan Holstein cows were milked twice daily, an average yearly
yield from one of these cattle would be over 10,000 litres / year. The
herd of 180 which had grown from an initial herd of 30 dairy cattle
purchased in 1969 by Rogers father Peter Duckworth who is still
actively involved to this day and enjoys milking the cows. The farm
continues to be run and managed by Peters eldest son Micheal and his
wife Jackie with their 2 children, Mark and Leony.

The Bottling Plant.
The milk would be
processed and then packaged up into various size and types of
containers ranging from the traditional glass milk bottle through to
cartons and plastic poly bottles. Here you can see one of the automated
plastic bottling machines. The plastic bottles of either pint, 1
litre,2 litre entered from the left, under the cylindrical turntable
were filled, capped and labeled on the right as they left.
